Discop Dubai Attendance Proves the Vitality of the MENA Region Despite a Difficult Environment
Los Angeles | Dubai February 1, 2017 – Basic Lead, organizers of DISCOP DUBAI, announced today that its inaugural edition wrapped up with 652 registered delegates from 58 countries.
204 international and regional TV content suppliers attended the three-day market and meeting platform alongside 346 unique buyers representing broadcasters, cable, and satellite, mobile and streaming operators.
102 independent producers took part in a “deal-building” agenda of informative panel discussions and hands-on workshops focusing on the highly competitive MENA multiscreen marketplace, the power of advertisers and the importance of comedy across all content distribution platforms.
“This inaugural edition of DISCOP DUBAI proved that a TV content market focusing on opportunities across the MENA region and the Indian Subcontinent was long overdue. A survey taken during the event showed that the vast majority of the buyers in attendance, very seldom take part in major international industry gatherings.” says Patrick ZUCHOWICKI, founder of the DISCOP matchmaking programs.
According to most participants, business was good through the three-day market and various deals have been announced onsite.
Plans for a second DISCOP DUBAI are confirmed with the next edition taking place from February 25 -27, 2018.
DISCOP DUBAI is organized with the support of its strategic partner TECOM (Dubai Studio City, Dubai Media City) as well as the Arab State Broadcasting Union (ASBU), the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (APBU) and Emirates Airlines.
